About me and my approach…

Hi, I’m Debs, a Learning and Development Consultant and Executive Coach

You might have landed here because we have worked together before or perhaps you have heard about my work from someone else. Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to learn a bit more about who I am and what I do, so let me share a little about myself and my work…..

I’ve worked in organisational development for over 25 years, with my work spanning both the public and private sectors. I am passionate about development and supporting people and organisations to reach their full potential.

From my years in the Industry, I recognise that the traditional training course and ‘one size fits all’ approach to learning doesn’t fit with the pace and aspirations of the modern workplace (and potentially never did!). Which is why I developed a consultancy business focused on delivering tailored learning to meet the needs of the individual and business.

I believe that reaching your full potential—whether as an individual or within an organisation—starts by asking the right questions.

Thoughtful questions spark meaningful action, and it’s that action that drives outstanding performance and helps foster workplaces where both productivity and well-being thrive.

My approach…

This way of working is at the heart of everything I do. I always tailor my approach to fit you—whether you’re coming to me as an individual or as part of a business. However, there are some common methods I use as a starting point.

If you decide to work with me, here’s what you can expect from our initial conversations. I will:

  • Work with you (as the client) to really understand the challenges you face (as an individual / team / business / organisation)
  • Explore your aims, objectives, values and ethos
  • Support you to set aspirational and achievable goals
  • Design and deliver bespoke learning to address those challenges and aspirations.
  • Agree with you what method of delivery would work best for you

Delivery methods can be in the form of tailored programmes, individual workshops and briefings, mentoring and Executive Coaching….or whatever unique and creative form you might want to explore!

My facilitation style has evolved over years of working with both groups and individuals. I believe that real growth and change happen when people step outside their comfort zones and into their stretch zones—a space where learning and development occur. However, I recognise that this can be uncomfortable and requires trust and a supportive and safe environment.

Creating a space where everyone feels included and secure enough to explore new ideas and challenges is my number one priority when working with a new group or individual. By fostering trust and openness, I help participants feel confident to take risks and embrace change.

What you can expect from working with me…

As a facilitator, I believe learning should be engaging, energising and genuinely enjoyable—which is why I bring fun and creativity into every session. I want sessions to feel like a valuable use of your time, especially when you’re stepping away from your busy day.

My approach is to create a relaxed, inclusive environment where people feel comfortable taking part, sharing ideas and trying new things—whether that’s through group activities, real-world scenarios or just a bit of humour at the right moment. But there’s always a clear purpose behind it: when people are having fun, they’re more open, more curious and far more likely to remember what they’ve learned and actually use it back at work.

I always blend useful theory with hands-on, practical experiences, so you leave each session feeling your time was well spent—and with something meaningful, memorable and genuinely useful to take away

One final thing about me…

If you decide to work with me, chances are we might meet at my place of work either in person or virtually. So let me explain a little bit about my ‘office’…….

My office is a cabin in the woods!!

For those of you who like horror films, I promise it is nowhere near as scary as it sounds!

One of my greatest passions is being outdoors. I love the energy and motivation it gives me. It’s my grounding, my safe space and massively supports my well-being. Which is why a few years ago we took the decision, as a family, to move into our woodland cabin on the edge of the peak district.

I share the woodland with my husband, teenage son and an array of animals from chickens to deer and lots of ducks!

Wherever possible (and if appropriate) I try to incorporate bringing the outdoors  into how I work with my clients.
